Scoring submissions

Posted by goblorke - April 3rd, 2009

The most common scores I ever seem to see: 10, 1 and 0.

This irritates me. To me, 6 means good, 7 means great, 8 means excellent, 9 means awesome and 10 means epic.

Most people seem to somehow believe that great translates to a 10. I personally think that 10 is a score that should be reserved for truly momentous submissions, such as the "There She Is!!!" series or :The Composer:, or for me (who has a great deal of liking for stick fights) the Xiao Xiao series.

Oh. And 5 means average. Not as in the way that average seems to mean bad nowadays, but in the mathematical way of mean average where average means the middle. No, it doesn't really stand out in any way shape or form. However, it was adequate and even if it failed to entertain me, I can appreciate the amount of effort put in.

I won't bother describing the other numbers.

I can understand to some degree that people generally only bother reviewing something that they feel strongly about, which would understandably lead to polarisation. Nonetheless, I too often see 10's attributed to flashes that yes, strike me as being notable, but not anything special.

'course, I really don't expect anyone to ever read this so...

yeah...
