The animation and artwork were quite impressive. Storyline was nothing particularly special (but how often is it in a flash of any kind?).
Mostly, the thing that brought it down was the offputting swaps between a depression/anger/revenge storyline and some slapped in humour.
It was kind of a case of some bits attempting to appeal to the viewer's emotions, but the overall flash because of the mood swapping would be most enjoyed by someone who was fairly emotionally detached. The mix plain didn't work. Either go one way or the other (or go from one to the other), but don't just slap them together. It doesn't work.

When I watch this, I have a hard time not seeing it as further evidence that some people just plain do not know how to draw guns (or people holding them). Yeah... Just generally uninspiring. Had some bits of good animation there, but yeah... okay, I'm really scratching to find good things to say about this...
Author's Response:
This is a cartoon, and how people is holding guns was not my main point of view when creating this. I don't think that should be in focus... What about the action and the music?

Let's start off by saying that this was not the song's fault. I don't mind that song at all.
I will admit that I'm not a sonic fan. However, it still seemed kind of jarring when you try to put a love story into a blob of pixels. Most of the emotion struck me as kind of... over the top, I guess. I'm not saying that emotional sequences can't be done in sprite movies, but it wasn't done well here, in my opinion. But then again, emotion isn't the easiest thing to show in a sprite movie.
Animation couldn't really be faulted, it was quite smooth. Although, I also admit I didn't like the way that the surprised/hurt animation was used even while they were lying on the ground. Although, perhaps you didn't have any choice in that regard. I don't know.

And so our hero erases the boss so utterly from existence that half of the city goes with him. Except for the main character's girl, who was probably only a few rooms away. She was fine.
Animation wasn't too bad, the choice between the boss and the strip club was amusing, even if the story was utterly uninspired. A couple of things could have used just a touch more effort (the poor looping with the background as he traveled on the flying surfboard thing). And dude, were there no better ways you could possibly think of of doing the energy fight at the end? It looked quite terrible.
Author's Response:
HAHAHA well yeah,
maybe I can update with some blur & glowing for the energy fight?
Thanks for the constructive critism! :D
edit: Done! :)

It may no longer have the smoothest animation ever seen (and if so that's not by much) and it may be lacking for visual effects, but the choreography is simply unparalleled. This may well be the flash that inspired at least half of the popular stick fight animators today.

"Awesome distilled to a potable form."
Smooth animation, excellent choreography, incredible visual effects, cool and well suited music, added interactivity... what the hell more could you possibly want from a stick fighting flash?

I loved the style, and the way that a general feeling of hilarity was maintained throughout.
The best it can be for what it is, and that is a short humourous flash based on random.

I can appreciate that this process would have involved a rather incredible amount of effort. However, I failed to find it funny. Well, apart from the Hyper Mega Boost Pipe. That was funny. However, the rest of the humour would probably only really appeal to people under the age of 11 or so. Or people with an equivalent sense of humour. It kind of just washed through my brain without leaving any kind of noticeable imprint.
Nonetheless, the level of animation was appropriate to the style, so you did well on the presentation front. Good effort!

Now it's going to be months before I encounter something else that makes me laugh that hard.
Also, you made my cheeks sore from smiling.
So screw you for that, too.
As with almost any Anime, I want there to be more!!
